Washington County Attorney’s Office—2018 Annual Report 21 Training East Metro Crime Prevention Coalition Forum – September 19, 2018 The Opioid Crisis: Mobilizing a Community Response Over 150 people attended this year’s East Metro Crime Prevention Coalition Event held on September 19th at the Rosemount Community Center in Dakota County. Professionals in prosecution, law enforcement, corrections, courts, community organizations and more heard from various speakers including Dick Beardsley who shared his moving personal story as a survivor of a painkiller addiction. The East Metro Crime Prevention Coalition is a joint effort of the Dakota, Ramsey, and Washington County Attorney’s and Sheriff’s Offices to unify educational resources, prevention strategies and law enforcement response to address the challenges we face by engaging our residents, sharing information and best practices to keep our communities safe. Veterans Program The veterans program promotes public safety while supporting veterans and their families through a coordinated effort among the veteran services delivery system, community-based services, and the court – thereby leaving no veteran behind. This program recognizes the unique problems facing veterans and how problem solving courts can help by recognizing the disabilities that military men and women returning from active deployment develop and identifying resources to assist the justice involved veterans. The program strives to identify veterans, offer them assistance, assess their needs, and help them solve their problems. It is a unique partnership among the criminal justice system, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and local treatment providers. Veterans working in the County Attorney’s Office include Jesse Seabrooks II, Celina Postelli, Joe Kvam, Jenn Baltaian, Tom Frenette, Pete Orput and George Kuprian.
