Washington County Attorney’s Office—2018 Annual Report 18 Major Crimes Prosecution Unit The newly created East Metro Sex Trafficking Task Force started January 1, 2018. Joining Imran Ali, Kathy Woxland, Aimee Schroeder, Erinn Valine and Amy Voss are Det. Ryan Stuart with the Oakdale Police Department, Det. Paul Kroshus with the Woodbury Police Department, Special Agent Jimmy Jimenez with Homeland Security Investigations and Sgt. Marc Lombardi with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. This multi-disciplinary unit is house in the Washington County Attorney’s Office. The Major Crimes Unit was busy the last two years working with the NFL and other stakeholders such as law enforcement and advocacy groups to plan and prepare a Minnesota response to sex trafficking during the Super Bowl. For ten days leading up to the Super Bowl, members from the unit and law enforcement from around the metro including WCSO, Woodbury Police and Oakdale Police, participated in several undercover operations. These operations led to a score of arrests involving those soliciting minors for sexual service, recoveries of dozens of victims and identifying several sex trafficking operations. The Major Crime Unit continued to identify victims, work closely with law enforcement, and prosecute over a dozen sex trafficking cases in 2018. The unit successfully prosecuted several defendants for their role in sex trafficking operations that was organized and centered overseas, a large sex trafficking ring spanning twenty states, and a defendant with a prior history of trafficking women throughout the Twin Cities.
