Washington County Attorney’s Office—2018 Annual Report 19 Major Crimes Prosecution Unit Lead Law clerk in the unit, Erinn Valine’s law review article in the William Mitchell Law Journal was selected to be published in 2019. Her article focuses on sex trafficking and recommendations moving forward. This law review will be the first law review article to be published on sex trafficking in the country. The Major Crime Unit picked up where they left off in 2017 by continuing to present on various issues involving trafficking. Included in their presentations were: National District Attorney Sex trafficking Conference in Miami, Florida, South Dakota District Attorney’s Annual meeting and the Minnesota State Sex Trafficking Annual conference. The unit continues to present to the community on issues relating to identifying victims of trafficking. The unit was asked to present and hosted sex trafficking professionals from several countries in Latin America. Imran Ali and Aimee Schroeder testified before the Minnesota House Public Safety Committee on a bill authored by Represented JoAnn Ward to increase penalties on those who purchase humans beings for the purpose of commercial sex.
